Newt Gingrich now has a date with Georgia. Circle March 6 on your calendar.

Between now and then, Georgia's ex-Congressman Newt Gingrich will try to convince the nation that he's somebody he's not. He claims to be an outsider, running for the good of the country.

We know better.

On Saturday, after thumping Mitt Romney in the South Carolina primary, Gingrich ripped “elites in Washington and New York."

But here in Georgia, we know Newt. We know he has been a Washington insider since 1978.

  • We know Newt has waged a war against Social Security for more than 25 years.
  • We know Newt told Carrollton voters he was a family man. And then he walked out on his wife, Jackie, as she recovered from cancer.
  • We know Newt vowed to be faithful to his wife, Marianne. And then he had a six-year affair. He walked out on his second wife after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
  • We know Newt promised to be a strong leader for Georgia. But Newt was forced to resign as Speaker of the House by his own party.
  • We know Newt claims to be a Washington outsider. But Newt never returned to Georgia after leaving Congress. Instead he stayed in D.C. to work as a lobbyist.

There's a lot that Georgia knows about Newt.

Starting today, we're going to make sure the rest of the nation knows Newt, too.

If you have personal memories of Newt and his rise to the top of the D.C. power structure, it's time to share those stories.

As we near Georgia's Super Tuesday primaries, we will share your stories to make sure everyone knows the same Newt we do.
